Stamping Die Components Types And Function
The stamping die usually includes a fixed and moveable sections. Fixed sections will use clamp plates and screws to attach to the punch press worktable
which is also known as the lower die. The movable sections are attached to the
slider of the punch press, commonly known as the upper die. To continue stamping
the upper die, it is able to be moved up and down by using the slider.
The different components can be divided into 5 types according its purpose:
Working components
The working press die components, are the pieces that will be used for stamping work. First, deform the sheet metal and then cut it into pieces. Then,
you will need the stamping part. Like punch inserts, die inserts, punch-matrix
etc.
Pilot components
Pilot parts are utilized to control the direction of the raw material's feed and pitch, and ensure that the sheet of raw material is placed at the right
stamping die location. Such as pilot pin, locating pin, guide pin, dowel pin,
dowel plate, side clamp plate etc.
Components to press material and lifting, stripping, or lifting:
These parts of the stamping machine were used to ensure the stamping work piece and scraps could be removed from the tool following each stamping finish,
and make the next production seamless. For example: Stripper plate, lifting pin,
scrap cutting inserts etc.
Guide components
These components make sure that the stamping dies are directed in the right direction for relative movement. They also ensure that the punch and die inserts
have clear clearance. This increases the efficiency of the stamping
tools.
Connect and install components
The progressive mold components function are joint above four kind of stamping die components joint together, to ensure each tool parts' relative
position are accuracy and correct and to ensure the tool can be installed on the
punch press.
But, it doesn't mean that each stamping die must have more than 5 kinds of components. After the stamping tool is used for prototype or small batch
production, to reduce the time for validation and reduce costs, it can be able
to simplify the stamping structure , which has only working components,
stripping components and various fastening components.
Different components of stamping dies for: Function
1. Guide Plate Components
The primary function is to guide the strip of raw material to the correct location before feeding it into the tool. Create a parallel strip to the
tool.
2. Punch and Die Components
These are the primary tools' working parts is used for cutting, piercing shaping, bending, etc.
For high-precision and high volume projects, these inserts are make use of carbide materials that have high hardnessand can guarantee stamping die manufacturers accuracy and long time of life.
3. Stripper Plate Inserts
These parts of the tool are placed in the stripper plate. They are able to alter the settings of the tool and the precision of the tool. There are three
kinds of structures that include shoulder type screw fix type double layer type.
Shoulder type is the most well-known.
4. Pilot Pin and Mis-feeder Device for detecting Device
The role of pilot pin is to put strips at the correct position prior to the tool 1 station is working and mis-feeder is a kind of sensor that can stop the
tool from shutting down when it is not feeding, which could shield the your tool
from harm.
5. Main Guide Pillar and Bush. Sub-guide Pillar and Bush, and Sub-guide Pillar and Bush
Above stamping die components all of them are common parts can be used to guide the tool. The work of stamping usually requires using the main guide post
and pillar to make an initial guide. The sub-guide post and pillar help guide
the precision of. This will help to ensure that all tool sets are
accurate.
6. Limit Bolt
This part is designed to stop tool damage and die-closed height not being set correctly. It can also protect the inserts as well as tools.
7. Guide Pin
The guide pin can be employed for material guiding while feeding into mold, also it is used for material stripping.
8. Clamp Screw
The clamp screw serves to attach the die components to each other and provides a secure lock force to ensure the tool remains stable under
pressure.
9. Connect the Screw
The plug screw usually together with the spring within the tool which can limit the spring compression under the force, also it can adjustment the
precompression of spring's height.
10. Stripper Spring and Screw for Stripper
The thread inside is utilized by the stripper screw. It can be employed to secure stripper plates, and to disassemble them. The spring used to stripper
plate provides sufficient pressure and pulling force to stripper plate.
